Homo sapiens, the last human species. The only species with a common language - the reason we concoured the world. But still we are unable to actually..communicate. In a world where we have developed a million different ways to communicate with each other, without even being in the same room, city or country - we're still failing to get the message trough.
Why is it so hard to just say what we really want, need or get our voices heard? The no's, the yes's and the mjeeeh's. (the weak "no I don't want to, but I'm able to be convinced").
We are so affraid of the reactions we may get - that we just postpone it until it may disappear by it self. But isn't it better to get a quick, honest answer and get it over and done with - rather than a more anxiously annoying one?
For example; a job interview. You nailed it, got it - but you also nailed and got the other one. You have to turn one of them down. You're scared to disappoint and afraid to get a bad reaction to your "thanks, but no thanks.". I think the job you're about to turn down appreciates the quick answer, so they can move on and find another one - than a long over due answer.
Same goes with human relations. Why is it so hard for some people to just be honest and tell the truth? What are we scared of? The sooner, the better.
"you have some spinach in your teeth", "pink is not your colour", "you don't have a great singing voice, so don't enter the Voice of Finland" or "I'm not interested".
I know I used to be so afraid to hurt people, so I didn't always say waht I wanted to say or how I really felt. But as I've grown older I know that honesty is the best policy - and often most appreciated. If you don't like something or someone - say it in the most delicate way you can. If you do - say it! I'm a grown ass woman, I can take it - and so can others. It feels so much better afterwards.
But for some reason, some poeple believe its better to just keep quiet and hope it goes away. Sometimes it feels better to not say anything.
Same goes with elections. Alot of people, unfortunally, chooses not to use their right to vote. But they still raise their oppinions and complain. If you don't say or do anything about it - why would anyone listen to you?
We all have a voice. We have this amazing tool to communicate and turn ideas into action. Why are so many people so scared to use it? Including me.
This world need to watch all the disney movies over and over again, and just pay attention to the message behind every movie. They make so much sense! This one is represented by Brave. "say what you wanna say...". I mean.. humans made the movies, so why can't we live by it?
Yes I'm reading Sapiens, yes this is inspired by that genious book and of course you all should read it.
